Verse: Welcome

Thought of a Briton, After Wordsworth

Two voices are there, one is of the Tweet

That shrills “Put on a mask and stay indoors,

Protect our NHS, stay off the street,

Covidiots, you’ve lost the culture wars.

No one will listen as you speak, and spray

Your poisoned drops of death all over town.

You should be locked up, locked in, locked away

For questioning the wisdom of lockdown.”

The other voice opines “When we approve

Of what the placards say, when they inspire us

With virtue, the police must not remove

Protestors on the pretext of a virus.

Free speech is vital. Everyone is free

To state their views, as long as we agree.”
